The Anbar Journal of Engineering Sciences (AJES) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. When errors or concerns are identified before or after publication, the journal will take appropriate editorial action in accordance with publication ethics standards and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Corrections Before Publication
After a manuscript has been accepted and prepared for production, the corresponding author may receive page proofs or galley proofs for final checking. At this stage, authors may correct typographical errors, formatting mistakes, or minor factual inaccuracies. Substantial changes affecting the scientific content, authorship, data interpretation, or conclusions are not normally permitted at the proof stage unless approved by the editorial office.
2. Post-Publication Corrections
If an error is identified after publication, AJES will assess whether a formal correction is necessary. A correction may be issued when the published article contains an error that affects the accuracy, clarity, indexing information, author details, references, figures, tables, or other parts of the scholarly record, but does not invalidate the main findings of the work.
When a correction is required, the journal will publish a separate correction notice linked to the original article so that readers can clearly identify the updated publication record. The original published article will remain part of the scholarly record.
3. Retractions
A retraction may be issued when a published article is found to be seriously unreliable, ethically compromised, or in breach of accepted publishing standards. Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:
Retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial office, and may involve consultation with authors, reviewers, institutions, or other relevant parties when appropriate. AJES may proceed with retraction even if the authors do not agree, or if they fail to respond, when this is necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record. A retraction notice will be published clearly, linked to the original article, and will state the reason for retraction in an objective and transparent manner.
4. Withdrawals
Withdrawal applies primarily to manuscripts or articles that have not yet been formally published in a final issue. A manuscript may be withdrawn before publication at the request of the author or by editorial decision, provided that a valid reason is presented and the request is reviewed by the editorial office.
The journal may also withdraw an article in press or an early online version if it is found to be an accidental duplicate, contains serious technical or editorial errors, or violates the journal’s ethical standards before final publication. Withdrawn items will not proceed further in the publication process, and the journal may retain an internal record of the submission and the reason for withdrawal.
5. Expressions of Concern
In cases where serious concerns are under investigation but the available evidence is not yet sufficient for a correction or retraction, AJES may issue an editorial expression of concern in order to alert readers while the matter is being examined.
6. Process and Transparency
All post-publication actions are handled with due process, editorial documentation, and ethical review. The journal seeks to ensure that any correction, withdrawal, expression of concern, or retraction is:
7. Ethical Framework
This policy is informed by the guidance and principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the journal’s publication ethics standards.
